What are the chances I get audited, and will you represent me?
Short answer
As of October 2026, no DeCypher client has been audited. If DeCypher prepared your return and you're on a bookkeeping and tax strategy plan, we handle IRS letters for you, and if you're ever audited, the CPAs on our team can represent you under a separate engagement.

Most IRS letters aren't audits. They're notices about a mismatch, like a 1099 that doesn't line up with your return, or a math correction. They still need a response by the date on the letter.
What keeps the risk low:
- The right business code for creators, so normal creator expenses look normal
- Real numbers from your books, not round-number guesses
- Specific expense categories instead of a big "other" line
- Receipts kept for business purchases of $75 or more
- Keeping high-scrutiny categories like meals and wardrobe in check
If you get a letter:
- Don't ignore it.
- Upload it to your client portal right away.
- Note the response deadline on it.
Letters about years DeCypher didn't prepare are handled under a separate engagement.
These are not guarantees. Every creator's situation is different.
