DeCypher Financials

My CPA went quiet or filed an extension. Can a new accountant take over mid-year?

Short answer

Yes. DeCypher can take over mid-year: we catch up your books from the start of the year, which is free for up to 18 months with any plan, pull your IRS records, and pick up where your last accountant left off, including an open extension.

Why creators switch to us mid-year: their accountant stopped answering, filed late and triggered penalties, didn't understand brand deals or AdSense, or counted transfers between their own accounts as income.

What we'll need from you:

  • Your last one or two tax returns
  • Statements for every business account, usually from December of last year to now
  • Any books your old accountant kept, as an export
  • Extension details, if one was filed
  • A signed Form 8821, so we can see your IRS records

If your old books are messy, we rebuild them. With us, you own your QuickBooks, so you'll never be stuck like this again.

On deadlines: the extended deadline for individual returns is usually October 15. If you come to us days before it, we may not be able to promise it's filed on time, and we'll tell you up front.
